Recollections of Barnt Green 1942-1955 Bounty: A case of preposterous optimism

The Paintings I believe that painting is essentially re-creative but at the begining of each work I have no idea how it will progress. With luck the process will resolve into an experience beyond that of the paint itself, particularly that of space and light. I try to make paintings which work in several ways simultaneously -- as a satisfying and simple arrangement of coloured marks on a flat surface, as a physical equivalent of memories and above all, as something which feels right.
